A few years ago Greg and I went to Dawes Arboretum. We walked through Azalea Glen, the Bonsai Garden, the amazing Cypress Swamp, down a forest trail past a log cabin where maple syrup is made and finally to the graveyard. This was a beautiful graveyard with a lot of wrought iron and really old tombstones. As we were walking I looked down and saw a big black feather. I had to pick it up and take it with me! I have kept this feather all of this time. Last night I decided I should draw it. I am very happy with this drawing, you can expect to see more feather drawings in the future. Drawing all of those little lines is almost a meditation. When I draw I am very focused and do not think about anything else. If I am upset and I draw I always feel better when I am done. If you are having a hard day, sit down and draw something and see if it makes you feel better.
